Board Activities
Assessment of Personnel - recognition of training
This project is to produce a formula for the assessment of NDT training. Future policy of CASA is expected to require that only persons who were successfully assessed by a Level 3 would be issued with CASA NDT Authorisation.
Employers will benefit by having access to expert guidance on course content and identification of existing approved NDT training courses.
Web site and Information Policy
Web site development and enhancements are ongoing. It is the most significant element in the overall communications policy. Clarity and transparency of Board operations is a cornerstone of good governance and the communications policy is to ensure that.
"Control" of Examination Policy and Procedures
The Standard makes provision for the Board to exercise some "control" in connection with NDT examinations. It is clear that the degree of control varies from one NANDTB to another, and local conditions will be important when developing the most effective system. Control does not necessarily mean preparation and administration of examinations.
The Board is working on a policy and procedure to satisfy this aspect of the standard.
Government Funding
The NANDTB remains vigilant for opportunities to secure government funding to finance some of its activities.
Replacement of CASA Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Guides
The existing Civil Aviation Orders (CAOs) which provide general guidance on penetrant and magnetic particle inspection, were produced many years ago. These are no longer in accord with industry best practice.
The Board is working with CASA to develop new advisory documents (CAAPs) to replace the CAOs.
