NA-001 Identity and Recognition

Name

The name is the National Aerospace Non-Destructive Testing Board of Australia (NANDTB), hereafter referred to as the "Board".

Objects

  1. The NANDTB is an independent national aerospace organisation. It is chartered by the principal participants of the Australian aerospace industry, and recognised by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority to provide oversight and recognition of employer based NDT qualification and examination programs, in accordance with Australian Standard AS 3669-2006 (EN 4179 and NAS-410).
  2. The Board also acts as a reference point for industry and the Regulator in matters relating to the practice of non-destructive testing (NDT) in the fabrication, maintenance and overhaul of aircraft structures, power plants, systems and components. This includes the review of employers written practice, and setting standards for the introduction of new technologies not covered by existing standards.
  3. To provide support to Standards Australia at their request with respect of the formulation and revision of NDT related standards.
  4. To cooperate and reciprocate with other NANDTBs for mutual recognition of approved employer based training and certification programs.

Finance

The work of the Board is undertaken voluntarily. All costs associated with that work are borne by the member. It is acknowledged that the member's employer supports the member's activities on the Board during the period of his/her representation.

If the Board is contracted to undertake work on behalf of another entity, a written agreement for the recovery of any associated costs shall be made by the entity and the Board before the work is undertaken. The Board is entitled to recover its members' costs, if any, but not to generate a surplus .

Any individual member obligations under the relevant Federal and State taxation legislation, as they may apply to the business of the Board, shall be met by that member.

Liability

Whilst every effort is made to discharge the Board’s duties with due care and diligence, the Board and its sub-committees, its members (co-opted and elected) and the entities they represent shall not be financially liable for any scheme(s) operated by the Board, or for any loss or damages resulting from, or claimed to have resulted from the implementation or operation of the scheme(s).
