NA-008 Electoral procedure to appoint the NANDTB members
Updated November 2007
Returning Officer
A returning officer will be appointed by those present to oversee the electoral process and announce its results. Ideally, he/she should not be a nominated person and may be given assistance as required.
Nominations
Nominations for election to the Board must be in writing on company letterhead and may come from each company involved in Australian Aerospace in a category described in the Charter Documents. Each aerospace company with a discrete ABN number is eligible to nominate one person. For example, a large company may have several divisions. If each division has its own ABN number, then each division may nominate a representative.
Proxies
Proxies are to be on company letterhead, and made known to the returning officer before voting commences.
Voting
Each company (ABN number) has one vote. Voting may be by a "show of hands", postal or secret ballot as determined by the Board.
Listing of Nomination
Each nomination will be listed using the following
identifiers:
Name, Company Affiliation, Level 3 Status, Aerospace Category.
Candidate Selection
The final list of nominations will be compared to the proportional representation guidelines in the Charter Document and voting will only be necessary where there are more nominations than vacancies in that industry category. For each industry category, the candidate who polls the most votes is elected. If the industry category permits more than one representative, the candidate who polls the second highest number of votes is also elected, and so on until all the positions in that category are elected
Nominees for Board positions who genuinely participate in more than one industry category may represent any of these, but representation is limited to only one category.
Note on the RAAF
The RAAF is not eligible to be elected to the NANDTB because it is a regulator in its own right. It is not an industry prime as intended by the Standard. However, because it is a respected and valued resource in Australian aerospace NDT, the RAAF is invited to attend as an observer and to favourably consider invitations to participate in projects of the Board.
